Brown Thomas Granted Full Pub Licence
Landmark Dublin department store Brown Thomas can open a bar on site after being granted a full pub licence from the Circuit Licensing Court.
Constance Cassidy SC told the court that the refurbishment on the third floor had met the requirements detailed on the planning permission, according to the Irish Times.
Brown Thomas has operated a wine licence for the last 40 years, and in January it was reported that it wants to expand its drinks offerings to include beer and spirits.
Lorraine Bedford, health and safety compliance manager with Brown Thomas, said the work had been carried out according to planning permission. Last month Bedford said a drinks menu to customers who "just had to sit around while their money was being spent."
The decision has been taken by Brown Thomas due to customer demand. It is expected to offer its new drinks menu after Easter.
