Dublin Pub To Celebrate 250 Years With Special Guinness And Powers Whiskey Night

The Long Hall, one of Dublin's oldest pubs and a favourite among musicians such as Bruce Springsteen and the late Phil Lynott, is to celebrate its 250th birthday this October with a special Guinness night and limited edition 25 year-old Powers Long Hall Bar whiskey launch the following month.

The bar, which is popular among tourists and locals alike, first opened its doors in 1766 and still has Victorian interiors dating back to 1881. The premises was originally converted from the private home of a magistrate reports the Irish Independent.

It has featured in Lynott's music video for his hit-song 'Old Town' and is Springsteen's "Dublin local" when visiting the capital. The current owner, Marcus Houlihan, describes himself as "custodian of [the bar] for future generations," and that he is "just passing through".

Speaking about the milestone, Houlihan said: "The bar license was granted in 1766 and we couldn't let the 250th birthday pass without marking the occasion. It's a very special place for many people. Our job is to preserve it for others to enjoy after we're gone."
