Fermanagh Hotel Set For £4 million Facelift
The Killyhevlin Lakeside Hotel in Co Fermanagh will undergo its biggest capacity increase in over 20 years as £4 million is to be invested to add an additional 30 rooms within the next five years.
The four-star hotel is currently undergoing a £1 million refurbishment to rebuild its 40 year old lakeside chalets which it says have been popular with visiting families over the years, according to the Belfast Telegraph.
Currently Killyhevlin Lakeside Hotel employs 160 staff to manage 71 guest rooms, 13 self-catering chalets, as well as a health club and spa. This requires £200,000 each year on maintenance to maintain the hotel's standards.
Killyhevlin Hotel's Finance Director Jacqueline Wright told the newspaper that achieving a fifth star is certainly attainable for the the family run hotel, but feels that it may come at a cost to Killyhevlin's welcoming atmosphere and not reflect what the hotel is really about.
When asked about the implications of the UK leaving the European Union, Wright added that it would be terrible for the hospitality industry as a whole.
