Former Zanzibar Premises In Dublin On The Block For €5m

The Ormond Quay property which was once home to popular night spot Zanzibar has been put on the market by CBRE, seeking offers in excess of €5 million.

CBRE says that the 0.42 acres site has full planning permission for an 89-bedroom hotel and has extensive food and beverage facilities. Zanzibar, which opened in 1998, was once able to boast of having a capacity of 1,200 in its heyday, reports the Irish Independent.

John Ryan of CBRE Hotels anticipates "strong buyer interest" for this "unique opportunity" as the property is a centrally located hotel development site, is a short walk from Grafton Street and Temple Bar, as well as being close to the likes of Dublin Castle, Guinness Storehouse, Croke Park and the 3 Arena.

The property has four floors of bedrooms, the majority of which are in the new extension to the rear which extends to approximately 23 square metres. The planning permission also allows for the creation of a new walkway linking Ormond Quay to Great Strand Street.

Ryan expects buyer interest "from a range of domestic and international property developers, hoteliers and investors especially given the high profile location of the hotel site and the full planning permission."
