Ireland's First Luxury Train Launched

Belmond, the luxury hotel, train and river cruises group, has launched Ireland's first luxury train with the Belmond Grand Hibernian.

It will join its other train options such as the Eastern and Oriental Express as well as the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express.

The Belmond Grand Hibernian will offer two, four and six-night journeys that all begin and end in Dublin. Bookings will include daily meals, drinks, excursions and guides, with each journey having a list of available golf options.

Its "Realm of Giants" trip costs from €3,160 per person and includes highlights such as a private guided tour of The Titanic Experience, a visit to the Giant's Causeway and Old Bushmills Distillery before returning to Dublin.

Those seeking a "Grand Tour of Ireland" can book a seven day journey from €7,722 per person which takes in attractions such as Cork's Jameson Experience, the Blarney Stone, champagne and oysters at a local Galway restaurant and a visit to Ashford Castle.

The train, which can accommodate up to 40 guests, has 16 twin and 4 double cabins available, all of which are en-suite, with each carriage named after an Irish county and decorated to match its traditional tartan. Chef Alan Woods will be serving serving authentic Irish fare onboard the train, using ingredients such as Killarney venison loin, scallops from the Beara Peninsula and Donegal turf-smoked salmon, reports Joe.ie.

The group also has plans to launch a luxury train in Peru with its Belmond Andean Explorer in May 2017.
