Ireland's First Meatball Dedicated Restaurant Opens in Cork

Irish couple Tony Costello and Grainne Holland will open the first restaurant in Ireland dedicated to the meatball, inspired by the couple's trip to Australia.

The Meatball Place opens this week in the Huguenot Quarter of Cork city, after the pair were influenced by the casual dining scene in Melbourne and wanted to do something similar in Ireland.

Speaking at the opening, Costello said: "We are so excited to see our dream finally come to life, and even more thrilled to open the restaurant in Grainne's home city, which already has an incredible culinary reputation."

The menu features other favourites such as chicken wings, bruschetta and a cheeseburger, but focuses mainly on meatball dishes which the customer can 'build' by choosing different options.

The couple, who both attended the Shannon College of Hotel Management, will hire 15 people in the new establishment, which can seat up to 150 people.
