Ireland's Top Chefs Hosting Pop-Ups For Euro-Toques Anniversary

Some 15 of Ireland's top chefs will be celebrating 30 years of Euro-Toques Ireland, with three collaborative pop-up dinners, one event for every decade of the organisation.

Le Coq Hardi, infamous as being former Taoiseach Charlie Haughey's favourite Dublin restaurant, will be welcoming back, for one night only, five of the country's top chefs, reports the Irish Times. Kevin Thornton, Ross Lewis of Chapter One, Aidan McManus of King Sitric in Howth, consultant chef Lorcan Cribben and Tim O'Sullivan of Renvyle House Hotel all learnt from its owner John Howard, and on June 18 will be giving their interpretations of his Le Coq Hardi dishes.

In its heyday, the restaurant served dishes such as pot roast quail with cabbage, oyster mushrooms foie gras and a port glaze, dover sole on the bone with sauce bearnaise, monkfish tail with bacon, pak choi, and a star anise-Pernod cream, and of course Chateaubriands.

Luna, which was recently crowned Best Restaurant at the All-Ireland awards, will open its kitchen to Jess Murphy of Galway's Kai, JP McMahon of Michelin star Aniar, Sunil Ghai of the newly opened Pickle, Philippe Farineau of Ashford Castle and Wade Murphy of 1826 Adare. The chefs will serve 5 courses with a theme of 'So Hot Right Now' on July 11 at a cost of €65.

The final pop-up will cost €55 and is to be held on July 25 at L. Mulligan Grocer in Stoneybatter. It will allow chefs Kate Lawlor of Cork's Fenn's Quay, Sham Hanifa of The Cottage, Kevin O'Toole of Chameleon, Robbie Krawczyk of Tankardstown House and Ali Honour of Ali's Kitchen give a contemporary twist to Ireland's favourite dish of bacon and cabbage.
