Jo'Burger Group Expansion Plans To Go Ahead Despite Losses

Jo'Burger, which was founded by Joe Macken in 2007 and has three locations around Dublin, has seen its losses increase for the last year.

The Jo'Burger Limited restaurant group, in which Irish rugby star Jamie Heaslip has shares in, also operate fried chicken restaurant Crackbird, Skinflint pizzeria and Bear steakhouse.

The newly filed accounts for Jo'Burger Limited show the firm recorded a €28,505 loss for a total of €140,928 in the 12 months to the end of December, up from €112,423 in the previous year. It also shows that the firm employed 92 people at the end of last year with employment costs increasing from €2.2 to €2.4 million. The group had €285,153 cash at hand, up from €199,631 in the previous year, reports the Irish Times.

Discussing the year's report, company director John Roberts said: "We’ve grown 700% since 2012 and last year was particularly strong for us, especially in the first half. So far, 2016 has been steady, which will do us fine. Our last restaurant opening was in 2014, so we’re keen to get back back in the saddle and start expanding again and taking on more staff."

Roberts added that the group wont be turned off from increasingly high commercial rents in their expansion plans, saying "good properties demand good rents and that’s the case regardless of what state the economy is in".
