LVA And BOI Payment Acceptance Partner For Contactless Payments

Card payment provider BOI Payment Acceptance (BOIPA) and the Licensed Vintners Association (LVA) have entered into a new partnership that will see BOIPA become the preferred payment platform for the LVA’s 600 Dublin pubs and bars.

The LVA, which will celebrate its 200th anniversary in 2017, currently represents 85 per cent of all pubs and bars in the Dublin and Bray region, the equivalent of a quarter of all licensed alcohol sold in Ireland. Over 35,000 Irish businesses now accept contactless payments, which allows near-instantaneous purchases of up to €30 with a tap of the card, with cashless transactions in Ireland currently valued at over €35 billion.

Commenting on the new deal, Brian Cleary, managing director of BOIPA UK and Ireland, said: "The LVA is the backbone of Dublin’s nightlife, and we are very pleased to provide the organisation and its 600 members with technology to make processing transactions easier and safer. They join a network of over 35,000 Irish businesses and organisations currently benefiting from contactless technology."

Donall O’Keeffe, chief executive of the LVA, said, "Costs associated with card payments are significant for a big majority of our members. Through this partnership with BOIPA our members will now get a very competitive offering and backed up with a great support infrastructure."
