New St. Stephen's Green Hotel Seeks Additional 120 Bedrooms

Investors in the new €60 million aparthotel to be built in Dublin 2 have reportedly approached city planners in the capital with the view of adding an additional 120 bedroom to the development.

British hotel group Marlin, which is owned by Irish businessman John Corless, plans to increase the size of the planned hotel in Dublin's city centre by as much as 65%, according to the The Times in the UK, which added that the decision has been made "in the wake of the UK vote to leave the European Union".

Among the Irish investors in the project are former ESB chief John Shine and former South Midland Construction MD Phelim Moylan.

The original planning application said it would help ameliorate the hotel room shortage in the capital, and "ensure the provision of high quality hotel accommodation to support the continued promotion of tourism".
