Santa Cycle In Aid Of Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin Launches In December

The Laurels pub in Clondalkin village is launching its Santa Cycle in aid of Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin on the 4 December.

Since 2009, staff and customers at the pub have raised over €600,000 for the hospital, used to buy equipment for Crumlin's orthopaedic ward, making them the biggest non-corporate donor in Ireland.

This year 500 Santa's will cycle approximately 7 kilometres from Phoenix Park to Crumlin Hospital and back to Clondalkin village, with another Santa Cycle running simultaneously in Cork.

Santa Cycle has funded operations with another affiliated CMRF charity called 'Straight Ahead' that provides surgery, support and medical equipment for children with orthopaedic conditions which has surgeons, nurses and theatre staff giving their time for free. The group has performed 83 procedures in the last four years and is currently aiming to fundraise €150,000 for new equipment that would provide better outcomes to each child in orthopaedic care.

Tickets for the Santa Cycle cost €30 per person or €60 for a family and can be bought online here. All money raised goes to the children's orthopaedic department in Crumlin with money from the Cork cycle going towards buying an ultrasound machine for the South Infirmary in Cork University Hospital.
