Irish fast food chain Supermac's will open six new outlets in 2016, according to its founder Pat McDonagh.
Speaking to The Sunday Business Post, McDonagh said that improved economic conditions in the country has allowed for expansion plans to go ahead this year.
“There’s increased employment out there and there’s a bit of confidence coming back into the market again,” said McDonagh.
The company expanded in 2015, including a €6 million investment into Tipperary Town Plaza in June. it also has plans to expand to 15 cities in Europe and further afield, although it has been met with opposition from fast food giant McDonald's over naming rights.
Founded by McDonagh in Galway in 1978, Supermac's currently runs 106 restaurants in Ireland. The six new outlets will see the number of staff hired increase from 2,000 to 2,900.
