Three Irish Sites Win at Tourism Awards

Three sites along the Wild Atlantic Way tourism trail scooped awards at the World Responsible Tourism Awards, held this week in London.

'Loop Head Tourism' in Co. Clare collected the gold award for ‘Best Cultural Heritage Attraction’ at the event, announced at the World Travel Market.

The 60KM loop comprises 14 sites to visit along the trail, including the West Clare Railway, the Loop Head Lighthouse (pictured), the Kilkee Cliffs, as well as a number of activities based in the area.

Also picking up accolades were Cnoc Suain in Galway, which picked up silver in the same category, and 'Connemara Wild Escapes', winning silver in the ‘Best for Engaging People and Culture’ category.

The World Responsible Tourism Awards commend tourism initiatives that demonstrate that they are organised in a way that preserves, respects and benefits destinations and local people.
