£14m Hotel & Spa Planned For Rostrevor, Co. Down

Northern Ireland developer Michael Tinnelly is seeking planning permission to turn a 35-acre plot of land in Rostrevor, Co. Down, overlooking Carlingford Lough, into a £14 million four-star hotel and spa with 100 bedrooms.

Tinnelly told The Belfast Telegraph that the "area is crying out for a hotel", citing the need for accommodation for local events and to attract tourists to the area. His proposed resort includes two function rooms, two bars, a restaurant, spa, fitness suite and gym.

Tinnelly was previously given the go ahead to construct a smaller, 50-room hotel in the same location and is now attempting to acquire funding to facilitate his revised plans. It is probable that the capital for the project will be provided by a mixture of banks and private investors.

Tinnelly is also hoping to receive "grand assistance from Invest NI towards planned marketing, training, management development and IT development costs in the hotel over the five-year period of financial projections."
