Over 30 Hoteliers Interested In Opening Hotel At Former Clerys Site In Dublin
Over 30 Irish and international hoteliers are reportedly keen to acquire the property formerly home to Clerys department store on Dublin's O'Connell Street for the purpose of opening a new boutique hotel on the premises.
According to The Irish Independent, the building's new owners, Natrium, have enlisted property agents to find an operator for a potential new hotel situated at the rear of the property on Earl Place.
When asked for information by The Irish Independent, a source said, "Is it being prepared for sale? No. Would Natrium turn down an offer in six months' time if somebody came along with a big sum of money? I can't say that. Clerys is a very attractive property to a lot of people in Dublin and beyond. But it isn't being put up for sale."
Natrium purchased the premises from Gordon Brothers for €29 million in 2015, closing Clerys in June of the same year. In December of 2016, Dublin City Council approved planning permission for a mixed used development on the site that would be comprised of a boutique hotel, offices, retail units and leisure facilities.
