Adare Manor Offered For Sale

Adare Manor and its championship golf course, which sits on 766 acres of land, has been put up for sale for about €25 million, as the country’s tourism market thrives.

The historic 62-bedroom hotel was built in 1830 as a home for the Earl of Dunraven and includes a room inspired by the Hall of Mirrors in the Palace of Versailles, broker CBRE Group Inc. said by e-mail today. It includes the course designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and is being offered for sale by Adare Manor LP and Adare Partners LP, the broker said.

The number of tourists visiting Ireland in the first half rose 10 per cent from a year earlier, CBRE said in a 1 September report. That’s drawn buyers including John Malone, the largest landowner in the US, who bought the Westin Dublin hotel and Kennedy-Wilson Holdings Inc. which took control of the Shelbourne hotel in Dublin this year. Occupancy of hotels in Limerick rose to 75.1 per cent in July from 71.3 per cent a year earlier, CBRE said.

The hotel, about 30 minutes drive from Shannon Airport, added the golf course in 1995 and hosted the Irish Open in 2007 and 2008. There’s planning approval to build a private hospital, a nursing home and 133 houses on part of the land.
