Airbnb Rental Figures Soar This Summer In Ireland

This year's summer is the busiest to date for Airbnb rentals in Ireland with approximately 640,000 people expected to avail of the service over the season.

The Irish Times reports that the data released by Airbnb covers bookings for the period extending from June 21 to September 22, and figures are expected to rise even further as more bookings are made. Airbnb asserted that the level of bookings this summer should inject about €57 million into the Irish economy, with Airbnb hosts earning an average of €2,000 during the three month period.

Airbnb global head of community support operations Aisling Hassell commented, "This data on this summer’s activity alone shows that the popularity of Airbnb continues to grow steadily in Ireland, with guests choosing to stay in the many villages, towns and cities across the country."

Guests And Destinations

Airbnb's data reveals that American residents are the most common users of Airbnb in Ireland, followed by Irish residents themselves and travellers from Britain, France and Germany.

Meanwhile, Dublin and Galway are the top two most common destinations of Airbnb users in Ireland, with Killarney, Cork and Dingle coming next, and almost 25% of people who avail of the service are families.
