US Restaurant Chain Taco Bell To Increase Workforce

Yum Brands Inc's Taco Bell plans to hire at least 5,000 workers at an April job fair as it looks to support a planned expansion of US restaurants.

The restaurant chain said outdoor hiring parties will take place at almost 2,000 US restaurants on April 21.

The last such event by Taco Bell was held in November to fill 2,000 positions at 400 restaurants, CBS News had reported.

Restaurants and bars have added a large chunk of jobs across sectors in the last few weeks as more Americans getting vaccinated and additional pandemic relief money gave businesses more confidence to step up hiring.

Yum! Brands Acquisition

Last week, Taco Bell parent Yum! Brands announced the acquisition of Tictuk Technologies, a leading Israeli omnichannel ordering and marketing platform company, which will bolster the group's digital ordering capacity.

The platform allows users to complete orders and interact with brands through a variety of social media and chat channels, including WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, SMS, QR codes, and email.

“As we navigate a consumer landscape reshaped by the events of 2020, we continue to intensify our focus on leveraging our scale and reinforcing our growth model with investments in digital and technologies to enhance the customer and employee experience, strengthen restaurant unit economics and enable our brands and franchisees to compete and win in a rapidly changing world,” commented David Gibbs, chief executive officer, Yum! Brands.
