the awards

Now in its 11th year, the National Hospitality Awards (NHA) have grown to hold a pre-eminent place within the hospitality industry in Ireland. With new categories added regularly, in order to keep pace with a changing industry, the NHA are a distinctive and handsome recognition of the efforts of the very best in the business.

The awards are judged by industry professionals, to a rigorous standard, and evidence that an establishment has really got it right, both front and back of house.

The National Hospitality Awards 2016 takes place at the InterContinental Hotel Dublin on 7 November 2016.

CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS IS 1st SEPTEMBER.

Why Enter How To Enter Awards

why enter

There are demonstrable benefits to both entering and winning the National Hospitality Awards (NHA). By entering, establishments show their determination to achieve and succeed, to be the best in their field. The presence of a winners plaque, inside and outside your establishment highlighting your achievements, will provide a vital differential from competition locally and nationally, and will increase footfall, and thereby revenue. Winning a NHA award can be highly motivating for staff, and will often involve an internal attempt to strive for better. WInning, naturally, brings further rewards, in terms of team recognition and pride in place of work, along with the proven benefits of something to show the public that you are the best at what you do.

judging process

The National Hospitality Awards go through a rigorous process, beginning with the creation of an in-house long-list based on the quality of applications received. This is sent to a team of external judges, some of whom change from year to year, others who have been part of the process since the beginning. When the external judges have finished their deliberations, a short-list is drawn up and this is passed to the internal judges, who are members of the Hospitality Ireland team. The establishments on the shortlist are then visited and scored and a final decision reached.

conference

Each year, the National Hospitality Conference unites the best operators within the hospitality industry in Ireland and beyond, to share their knowledge, experience and predictions for the future. This year's key speakers will be Jeremy Wayne (restaurant editor of Tatler UK), Damien Gaffney (chief investment officer of Tetrarch Capital). Paul Collins (Head of Brokerage UK Ireland for CBRE )and Leo Jago (Professor in Hospitality and Events and co-director of The Centre for Research and Enterprise at Surrey University School of Hospitality and Tourism Management).

At the Conference, there will also be a Publican Panel, a Technology Panel and a Hotel & Restaurant Panel, featuring the likes of Deirdre Devitt (Chair of LVA), David O’Hare (Bru Brewery), Daragh Anglim (head of marketing, Fáilte Ireland), Ross Lewis (Chapter One and Osteria Lucio, Dublin) and Declan Maxwell (Luna, Dublin).
