C&C Gleeson To Print Nutritional Information On Tennent’s Lager Packaging

C&C Gleeson has announced plans to put nutritional information on Tennent’s Lager packaging.

This would make Tennent’s Lager the first alcohol product in the UK and Ireland to print clear nutritional information on its cans and bottles.

The company says it wants to educate drinkers and promote the responsible consumption of alcohol, and highlights the fact that Tennent’s has relatively low calorific content compared to the other main lager brands.

“There is increasing interest amongst consumers around the nutritional content of the food and drink that they consume,” commented Tom McCusker, managing director of C&C Gleeson.

“We feel that it is a natural next step to include calorie information on our cans and bottles to sit alongside the responsible drinking messaging and number of alcohol units already displayed.”

C&C Group plc, which C&C Gleeson is a part of, has revealed that it intends to introduce nutritional information across its portfolio over the next 12 months.

In Ireland, an Alcohol Bill is being developed by the government that will require all alcohol products to display nutritional information, an initiative that C&C Gleeson says it supports.
