Chinnery Spirits Launches New China Trade-Inspired Gin

Chinnery Spirits co-founders Marie Byrne and David Havelin have launched a new Irish-made gin that is inspired by the Old China Trade that delivered silk, spices, tea and porcelain to Europe in the 19th century.

According to The Business Post, the so-called Chinnery Gin, which has been launched at over 50 stockists across Ireland, is a Dublin dry gin made with ten botanicals. The idea for the gin came from Havelin, who developed an interest in the historical China trade while working in southern China.

Production Process

Commenting on the process of producing the new gin, Byrne said, "Our featured botanicals, osmanthus and oolong, are distilled individually in their entirety at our small Dublin distillery using a modern vacuum still. They are then blended with a gin base distilled to our own specification at West Cork Distillers in Skibbereen."
