Christian Brothers Appeal Co. Kildare Hotel Extension

A major extension to Lawlor's Hotel in Naas, Co. Kildare, has been thrown into doubt after five Christian Brothers in the adjoining St Patrick’s Monastery appealed the recent planning green light for the project.

The proposed 72-bedroom extension will see the construction of a single-storey courtyard suite at the rear of the existing hotel, the demolition of a two-storey dwelling house and the construction of additional storeys.

Lawlor's Hotel was rescued from going out of business by former soccer international Niall Quinn in 2014, after he teamed up with Kilcullen Bakery to purchase the property from examinership for €2.24m.

Now, the Christian Brothers claim the plan by Marchford Ltd for the hotel will 'disturb their tranquil life in the adjoining St Patrick’s Monastery', reports irishexaminer.com

The Christian Brothers, one of seven parties to lodge an appeal against the plan, are said to have hired planning experts to lodge an appeal against the Council decision to An Bord Pleanála.
