Dalata Anounces Clyde Court Hotel to Close

Ireland’s largest hotel group Dalata has announced that the Clyde Court Hotel in Ballbridge (formerly the Berkeley Court) will close to allow for redevelopment.

The Clyde Court’s new owners Chartered Land will commence construction of a major overhaul of the site which includes 190 apartments, Dalata revealed. The hotel will cease trading on 1 January 2016 to allow construction to begin. The new apartments will be put on sale in 2017.

Dalata also announced an extension of its lease on the adjacent Ballsbridge Hotel (pictured) to at least April 2018. Pat McCann, chief executive of Dalata said: “While there is a certain sadness at the closure of the Clyde Court Hotel, I am delighted that the Ballsbridge Hotel will continue in operation until at least April 2018.”

The construction of the new pavilion-style apartment s will create 500 jobs and Dalata has assured that none of the 100 people currently employed at the Clyde Court will lose their jobs.

It is the latest move in what has been a busy 2015 for Dalata, which is in the process of raising €160 million in fresh equity capital to acquire new hotels, extend existing hotels and explore opportunities for new sites in Dublin.
