Dalata Employees Cycle 1,100km In Aid Of CMRF Crumlin

This week, Dalata Hotel Group set out on a 1,100 kilometre cycle around the island of Ireland in aid of CMRF Crumlin. The cycle, which took off from Dublin Airport, saw the team visit a number of the Group’s Clayton and Maldron hotels along the way. The route went through Belfast, Derry, Sligo, Galway, Limerick, Cork and Wexford before finishing today (Friday September 14) in the Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge, Dublin.

Dalata Digs Deep

Before starting out, the team already raised over €27,000 with support from a number of corporate sponsors. The cycle is part of Dalata’s wider charity initiative Dalata Digs Deep. Now in its third year, Dalata Digs Deep sees employees from across the group take part in fundraising initiatives to raise funds for CMRF Crumlin. Dalata Digs Deep tasks each hotel and central office with a specific fundraising target and leverages competition between the groups leading ultimately to a stronger and more focused fundraising effort. The event ideas come directly from employees and have played a significant part in fostering employee engagement and team work.

CMRF Partnership

To date, Dalata has raised over €500,000 for CMRF Crumlin. Some of the funds raised so far have been invested in a substantive piece of research work in Neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma is a cancer of the nervous system that primarily affects children aged five and younger and is responsible for approximately 15% of childhood cancer deaths.

CMRF Crumlin is the funding body for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital and the National Children’s Research Centre (NCRC), helping 120,000 children per year and funding medical research seeking cures and better treatments for children’s diseases. CMRF Crumlin has granted €87 million to Our Lady’s and the NCRC in Crumlin over the past 10 years.
