Deliveroo Launches in Dublin

UK-based food delivery service Deliveroo has launched in Dublin, with more than 40 restaurants in the capital already signed up to the service.

Deliveroo offers a delivery service to businesses that normally couldn't deliver food to home or workplaces, as unlike JustEat or similar companies, it does the deliveries as well as the orders.

According to the Irish Independent, the company takes a 30 per cent share of the sales made through the service, and also charges a €3 delivery fee to the customer.

The move to Ireland is backed by Irish entrepreneur Dylan Collins, who invested €3.5 million into the company. Deliveroo raised €22 million in funding in January earlier this year.

As well as the delivery service (staff deliver the food on bicycles) the company offers participating restaurants the technology needed, providing its clients with Android tablets and bluetooth printers to process the orders.

The company, which works with over 1,000 outlets in London, made its first official delivery in March and plans to extend business to restaurants in areas such as Sandyford, Dundrum and Dun Laoghaire and other suburbs.
