It's reported that high-profile property developer Johnny Ronan has applied for planning permission to press ahead with plans for a 141-bedroom hotel at Enniskerry (pictured), Co Wicklow.

The hotel is located close to where Treasury Holdings, his former business, previously developed the luxury Ritz-Carlton hotel, reports thetimes.co.uk.

It was this time last year that reports first emerged that Ronan Group Real Estate had plans to shakeup the hotel industry, with four new developments earmarked, due for completion in 2017 and 2018.

According to thetimes.co.uk. Ronan Group Real Estate has lodged a planning application to build the 15,000 sq metre hotel in the grounds of St Valery’s House, a protected building that dates to about 1810, adding that the hotel would be four storeys over a basement, with 160 car parking spaces, while the plans include a restaurant, bar and meeting rooms, but do not feature spa or leisure facilities.
