Diageo Ireland’s Oliver Loomes Elected Chair Of ABFI
Oliver Loomes, country director of Diageo Ireland, has been re-elected as chair of Alcohol Beverage Federation of Ireland (ABFI) for a two-year term.
Commenting on his appointment, Loomes said, "The drinks industry is an important Irish industry, with innovation at its core. From the Irish whiskey renaissance to the increasing number of beer options available for consumers, it’s an exciting and dynamic industry with strong prospects.
Loomes added, "There are also a number of challenges facing the industry, including Brexit, threats of international trade wars, our high rate of excise tax, and the impact of the Public Health (Alcohol) Act.
"I look forward to working with the ABFI team and membership to navigate these challenges and opportunities over the next two years."
Working On Pertinent Issues
Meanwhile, ABFI director Patricia Callan said, "I would like to congratulate Oliver Loomes on his appointment as chair of ABFI. I look forward to continuing to work with him on the issues that are pertinent to the drinks industry in Ireland."
