Beverage distribution company Bevella has partnered with Maharani Gin producer Rebel City Distillery.

Details

A statement announcing the news said, "Beverage distribution company Bevella has partnered with Rebel City Distillery, producer of multi award-winning Maharani Gin. Rebel City Distillery is a boutique distillery situated in the heart of Cork's historic Docklands. Founded in 2020, Rebel City Distillery heralds a new wave of craftsmanship in Cork as it is the first distillery within its city limits for almost 50 years.

"Fusing a longstanding heritage of craft with a splash of experimentalism, Rebel City Distillery was founded in 2020 by husband-and-wife Robert and Bhagya alongside Robert's father, Brendan Barrett. The distillery has since launched its first release, Maharani Gin, which celebrates a fusion of the couple’s respective heritage and cultures of Cork and Kerala."

Maharani Gin Co-Founder Statement

Speaking about the brand, Robert Barrett, co-founder of Maharani Gin, said, "We are really excited to introduce Maharani Gin to the world and to partner with Bevella to strengthen our distribution network and to market our prestige Maharani brand to the island of Ireland."

Additional Information

The statement announcing the news added, "Maharani Gin pays homage to Kerala women who are known for their strength and importance in society. The word 'Maharani', meaning Queen, is a tribute to revolutionary women everywhere.

"The premium gin is zested with pomelo fruit, and uniquely spiced with cassia and nutmeg-mace, all sourced from a women’s organic farming co-operative in Bhagya's home state of Kerala, India. This heady combination results in a gin of truly transcendental taste, a liberation of spirit and spice.

"Bevella's vast independent network means Maharani Gin will be targeted to its ideal customer base, looking for premium, irresistibly tasting, ethically produced gin.

"The passion and expertise of the team at Bevella is outstanding and is based on three robust pillars that are understanding consumer trends and identifying tactical brand openings; partnering and planning with brand custodians; and developing reliable, supportive, interdependent relationships with retailers and publicans alike. The Bevella and Maharani Gin partnership will be instrumentally in building brand awareness, securing listings and fulfilling trade and consumer needs.

"Maharani is a multi-award-winning gin achieving four titles in its first year: Silver in The London Spirits Awards, bronze in the Craft Spirits Berlin, gold in The Gin Masters, and bronze in the IWSC. It recently was awarded a prestige silver medal in the Blas na hÉireann which is the ultimate seal of approval for quality food and drink made in Ireland. Blas na hÉireann, The Irish Food Awards is the biggest competition for distinguishing excellence amongst the food and drink produce made on the island of Ireland."

Bevella Director Statement

Speaking about the brand, Bevella Director Paul McInerney said, "Maharani is a superb product and made by great people, who are bringing distilling back to Cork city. We love the story, quality and provenance of the brand and look forward to what will come next from this great team."
