Stafford Bonded To Develop Whiskey Maturation Facility In Co. Waterford
Irish family business Staffford Bonded has been granted planning permission to develop a whiskey maturation facility in Co. Waterford.
Stafford Bonded is a Co. Wexford-based family business that deals in the bond storage and brokerage of wines, spirits, beers and tobaccos.
As reported by The Irish Independent, Waterford City and County Council has granted the company planning permission to develop a whiskey maturation facility at Waterford Airport Business Park in Ballygarran, Co. Waterford, subject to 12 conditions.
When completed, the planned whiskey maturation facility will have a value of €57 million and will include 38 whiskey maturation warehouses of varying sizes as well as an on-site office with conference rooms for Stafford Bonded's clients, which include Waterford Distillery, Dublin Liberties Distillery and West Cork Distillery, and whiskey investors.
The first phase of the facility's development will include eight warehouses and will begin immediately.
According to The Irish Independent, Stafford Bonded managing director Michael Stafford Jnr said that the number of jobs at the Waterford site will grow to 40 over the next three years, and it is likely that an additional 30 people will be employed at the site within five years. At present, there are 15 employees at the Waterford site.
