Almost 2.3 million passengers travelled through Dublin Airport in March, representing a 3% rise over the same period in 2017 and a new record for the month.
Commenting on the statistics, Dublin Airport's Siobhán O’Donnell said, “The increase was achieved despite disruption to the airport’s flight schedule for almost two days as a result of Storm Emma.”
Passenger numbers during the month were boosted due to St. Patrick’s Day being on a Saturday and Easter beginning at the end of March.
Passenger volumes to and from continental Europe grew 5%, while UK traffic decreased 5% compared to the same period last year with over. Meanwhile, Northern American passenger volumes increased 24% and other international passenger traffic to the Middle East rose 30%. Additionally, the number of passengers travelling on domestic routes increased by 12%.
Over six million passengers have travelled through Dublin Airport this year so far, representing a 4% increase, or an extra 248,500 passengers, compared to the same period last year.
