Dublin's Food Scene Welcomes More New Openings
The popularity of donuts is showing little sign of slowing down in the capital as Dublin welcomes two more donut outlets.
Offbeat Donut Co., located within Pearse Street DART station, offers flavours such as strawberries and cream, apple crumble and lemon meringue, while the Rolling Donut, which first opened its doors on O'Connell Street in 1988, has expanded to nearby Bachelor's Walk. Both shops offer fresh donuts that are baked daily and close for the day once they are sold out.
Meanwhile, the Guinness Storehouse has welcomed another attraction to St. James Gate with the recent launch of its 1837 Bar & Brasserie. The bar and brasserie offers oysters, small and large plates, as well as beers originally brewed at their Open Gate Brewery, like Hop House 13 and West Indies Porter.
Porterhouse Brewing, who have bar locations off Grafton Street, in Temple Bar and Bray, has renovated their Porterhouse North bar and will reopen it as The Whitworth. There is very little word on what changes have been implemented in the Glasnevin bar, but we may see it serving up barbecue food, according to its Twitter feed.
Chopped, the healthy food company that specialises in salads, will be adding another location to its group. The business, which was set up in 2012, has locations in areas such as Baggot Street, Ballsbridge and St. Stephens Green. Their latest shop will soon open in Rathmines.
Finally, Scoop, a 'dessert parlour', has opened up in Ranelagh. They will be serving traditional Italian gelato alongside crepes, coffee and milkshakes.
