Dublin's Most And Least Expensive Hotel Rooms Revealed

On the back of the annual Crowe Horwath hotel industry survey's revelations last weekThe Irish Times has investigated prices at six of the city's most well-known hotels.

The results revealed that rates at the investigated properties actually exceeded Crowe Horwath's stated average of €128.

According to the investigation, the five-star Westin hotel was found to be the capital's priciest at €460 per night midweek, while fellow five-star property, The Conrad, offered the best value for money at the weekend with a Saturday night rate of €270.

Meanwhile, O'Connell Street's three-star Academy Plaza featured Dublin's cheapest rate at €139 per night midweek and €189 at weekends, while The Address on Amiens Street had a midweek rate of €259 and €179 at the weekend.

The other two hotels surveyed were the Hilton Charlemont, with rates of €257 per night midweek and €279 at weekends, and Jurys Christchurch, which cost €170 for a midweek stay and €260 for weekend nights.

The above findings are based on rates listed on each of the hotel's official websites.

Commenting on how to find Dublin's most favourable room rates, a representative for the Irish Hotels Federation, stated: "The Irish Hotels Federation recommends that people do not rely on just one source when comparing accommodation prices. It also advises people to check hotels' own websites as well as contacting hotels directly where better rates may be available. Hotels can take approximately 23% of bookings through third-party websites. This can cost in excess of 15% in commission and impacts on the price charged to consumers."
