Fáilte Ireland Showcase Western Gardens To German Media
Six German media representatives have arrived in Ireland today (June 22) to take part in a press trip along the Wild Atlantic Way. Writing for a number for national and regional newspapers in Germany, it is hoped that the trip will encourage the journalists' combined circulation of over 1 million people to consider taking a trip to Ireland to see the scenery of Clare, Galway and Limerick for themselves.
The journalists' journey will start in Clare, where they will visit Caher Bridge Garden in Fanore and take the Burren Walk with environmentalist Gordon D’Arcy. From here, they'll move on to Limerick to see the award winning garden at Terra Nova in Kilmallock, the Coolwater Gardens at Cloughadoolarty and Boyce’s Garden at Mountrenchard, Foyens. Then they'll make their way to Galway to visit Woodville Walled Garden in Kilchreest and Ardcarraig Gardens in Oranswell, as well as taking a guided tour of Brigit’s Garden and exploring Kylemore Abbey & Victorian Walled Garden in Connemara.
Fáilte Ireland’s head of international publicity, Ciara Sugrue, stressed the importance of international media coverage for Ireland, stating, “Welcoming media, such as this group, to our shores plays a big part in ensuring that Ireland and the Wild Atlantic Way are on the map when it comes to potential German visitors. We hope they will persuade their many readers to come to visit us in the not too distant future and enjoy all that an Irish holiday has to offer."
