Deliveroo to Move into Galway After $100M Investment

Premium food delivery service Deliveroo has announced it will expand operations in Ireland to Galway after a $100 million investment was made in the company.

The UK-based service raised the money from a number of new and existing investors, as it intends on expanding international and further its stake in the UK and Europe.

According to the Irish Times, ten Galway restaurants have already signed up to the service, making it the third Irish city Deliveroo has ventured into after Dublin and Cork. It will hire 30 delivery drivers in Galway.

Deliveroo in Ireland is backed by Irish entrepreneur Dylan Collins and its general manager is Oliver Dewhurst, who spoke about the new investment.

“This funding represents a major milestone in our international expansion - the Irish business is experiencing phenomenal growth in Dublin and Cork and we’re excited to add Galway to the list of cities our service is now live in with more to come in the near future,” he said.

Started in London in 2013, Deliveroo now operates in 50 cities across 12 countries, including the UK, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Belgium, Ireland and Spain. It is also expanding to Asia and Australia after the investment.
