Hospitality group Ampleforth, who operate Dublin's 5-star Fitzwilliam Hotel and The Bailey bar, has seen its pre-tax profits rise by almost double, from €2.36 million to €4.27 million for 2015, newly filed accounts show.

Ampleforth, which is controlled by Michael Holland, saw its turnover rise by 12 per cent from €32.7 million in 2014 to €36.5 million in 2015 and operating profits increase from €3.77 million to €5.04 million.

The Irish Times reports that Ampleforth currently employ 163 people, up from 147, and that its staff costs, including directors renumeration, totals €4.99 million. CBRE has valued the Fitzwilliam Hotel and Bailey properties at €40 million and €1.7 million respectively, with the former potentially increasing in value to €43.5 million.

Commenting on the previous year, an Ampleforth spokesperson said: “The directors are satisfied with the group’s performance during the year. The group will continue to concentrate on its core activity of hospitality and tourism-related services. The directors are actively seeking new opportunities in this regard.”
