Press Up Entertainment Group will add to its ever-expanding portfolio with a new boutique hotel in Ranelagh, after An Bord Pleanála green-lit the project.
The group, owned by investor Paddy McKillen Jr, faced opposition against its proposed 41-bedroom hotel from several groups, who argued that Ranelagh is already flush with hospitality businesses, and more parking facilities are needed.
However, the board has now granted permission, dismissing its own inspector's recommendation against doing so, according to the Irish Independent.
The hotel, situated at 117-119 Ranelagh, will also feature a restaurant on the rooftop terrace, a 50-seater cinema room and conference facilities.
Speaking to the Independent, a spokesperson for Press Up said the hotel will take from 18 months to two years to complete.
"In addition to the economic benefits of addition employment in the area, the hotel will also provide much needed meeting and event spaces, an arthouse cinema and a rooftop restaurant, all of which will complement the fabulous selection of restaurants in the Ranelagh neighborhood," she added.
After a residents' group opposed the plans, the board's inspector recommended that permission be repealed due to the overdevelopment and noise pollution it would create in the area. However, the board overruled that recommendation and the plans will go ahead.
