Wetherspoon Set to Open First Pub Outside Dublin
UK-based pub chain JD Wetherspoon will open its fifth pub in Ireland and the first outside Dublin next week, as its expansion in the country continues.
The Linen Weaver, as the pub will be known, will open its doors on 8 September in Cork City Centre, after a €3.65 million investment into the site.
The new three-floor pub, built on the site of the the former Newport Cafe, Bar and Restaurant on Paul Street Plaza, will create 75 jobs. The pub will feature two bars and a terrace.
Currently, there are four Wetherspoon pubs operating in Dublin. They are: The Forty Foot in Dun Laoghaire (pictured), The Three Tun Tavern in Blackrock, The Great Wood in Blanchardstown and The Old Borough in Swords.
As yet, no date has been set for the opening of the 100-room hostel and pub based on Camden Street in Dublin; a €4 million investment by the company. The chain has plans to open 30 pubs across the Republic over the next five years.
