Levy Ireland, the sports and entertainment hospitality provider, has announced the launch of a food waste reduction initiative in partnership with Positive Carbon.
The Convention Centre Dublin (CCD) will be the first Levy Ireland partner site to embark on its Positive Carbon food waste reduction journey. Positive Carbon’s advanced food waste monitoring system uses sensors to track and analyse discarded food items, providing accurate data and insights on waste patterns.
Levy Ireland claims that this will empower teams to identify food waste sources and implement targeted reduction strategies. By gaining visibility into food waste, chefs can streamline operations, improve cost control, and ensure consistent progression towards sustainability objectives.
“This scheme aligns with our commitment to sustainability and our goal of decreasing food waste on our mission to achieving net zero,” said Lenny Fearon, culinary director at Levy Ireland. “By leveraging Positive Carbon’s technology, we can make a measurable impact and set a new standard for the hospitality industry.”
He added, “The Convention Centre Dublin is just the start. We will be introducing the Positive Carbon food waste reduction technology across our Levy Ireland portfolio.”
Levy Ireland has been working with the CCD since it first opened in 2010. With its busy portfolio of events and conferences, Levy Ireland believes that the CCD is the perfect choice to launch the Positive Carbon food waste programme.
“We are proud to collaborate with Levy Ireland and Positive Carbon to implement innovative solutions that use technology, not only to help us achieve our sustainability goals, but to support our clients in delivering on their sustainability ambitions,” said Alan Gallagher, the CCD’s director of event operations.
“This initiative demonstrates our dedication to responsible practices and our commitment to creating a more sustainable future.”
