FSAI To Hold Public Meeting On Performance Nutrition And Young People

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) will hold its 2016 Food Safety Consultative Council Public Meeting on Wednesday 27 April, with this this year’s focus being put on performance nutrition and young people.

The event will welcome a range of speakers, including Veronica Campbell, Chair of the Food Safety Consultative Council, and FSAI Chief Executive, Dr. Pamela Byrne.

Also in attendance will be Dr. Mary Flynn, Chief Specialist Public Health Nutrition, FSAI and Dr. Conor O’Brien, Consultant Neurophysiologist & Physician in Sports Medicine, as well as Kilkenny Hurling Team Dietitian, Noreen Roche and senior player, Richie Hogan.

Speakers are set to discuss proliferation of performance nutrition products, how they are used, and what effect they may have on young people now and in the future.

The meeting will also examine the use and management of sports supplements, and the importance of a balanced diet suitable for this age group and their activities, while a panel debate will expand on these topics in more detail.

The meeting will take place, Wednesday, 27 April in the in the Radisson Blu Hotel in Dublin 8, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
