Dublin And Cork Airports Operator DAA Launches Recruitment Drive For Security Personnel To Prevent Queues
According to The Irish Independent, Dublin and Cork airports operator DAA has launched a recruitment drive for additional security personnel to attempt to prevent queues that have delayed passengers, causing some to miss flights, in recent weeks.
Problems have reportedly developed at peak times at Dubin Airport as a result of staffing shortages as traffic rose to levels above 50,000 passengers per day, which is approximately about of what they were in the late summer of 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.
DAA, airlines, and groundhandling companies have reportedly reduced staff numbers during the pandemic and are reportedly now struggling to bring in new employees or, in the case of some groundhandling firms, to entice previous employees back.
