Online Application Form For Digital COVID Certificates To Be Made Available

A new online application form for Digital COVID Certificates, which are required for overseas travel and indoor hospitality services, will be made available in coming weeks.

The news follows the resumption of overseas travel from Ireland and the resumption of indoor hospitality services for individuals who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and individuals who have recovered from the virus.

The EU Digital COVID Certificate is the primary evidence for proof of immunity to COVID-19 to gain access to indoor hospitality services.

Complaints About The Digital COVID Certificate Helpline

As reported by, the Department of Health made the announcement about the new online application form for Digital COVID Certificates in response to complaints from individuals who cannot get through to the helpline for the certificates.

Many individuals have reportedly complained that have been left on hold for hours and/or cut off before their call is answered.

The helpline is for individuals who have a problem with their Digital COVID Certificate and individuals who have recovered from COVID-19 who want a Recovery Certificate, and the department has reportedly said that it is only capable of handling approximately 7% of the tens of thousands of calls that the helpline is currently receiving.

Constantly Attempting To Improve The Service

An online portal to obtain a Recovery Certificate without going through the helpline was reportedly recently opened, and the Department of Health reportedly said in a statement that it is constantly attempting to improve the service.

The department reportedly said, "We will also launch additional online forms and automation in the coming weeks to make this service more accessible for the public."
