Prices In Licensed Premises, Restaurants And Hotels Increased Year-On-Year In July

Prices in licensed premises, restaurants and hotels in Ireland increased year-on-year in July, according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO) Consumer Price Index.

Licensed Premises Prices

Prices in licensed premises increased by 1.8% year-on-year in July, according to the Central CSO Consumer Price Index.

Prices in licensed premises also increased in July from June by 0.1% from June.

Spirit prices in licensed premises increased by 2.8% year-on-year in July, beer prices increased by 2.4% year-on-year, wine prices increased by 0.7% year-on-year and softs drinks and mineral water prices increased by 0.4% year-on-year.

Wine prices increased by 0.3% in July from June and softs drinks and mineral water prices increased by 0.1% last month from the previous month while spirit and beer prices were the same in July as they were in June.

Restaurant And Hotel Prices

Prices in restaurants and hotels increased by 3.1% year-on-year in July, according to the CSO Consumer Price Index.

Prices in restaurants and hotels increased by 0.9% in July from June.

Off-Trade Alcohol Prices

Meanwhile, off-trade alcohol prices decreased by 1.3% year-on-year in July, but increased by 0.5% from June, according to the CSO Consumer Price Index.

Off-trade spirits prices decreased by 3.6% year-on-year in July, off-trade beer prices decreased by 3.5% year-on-year in July and off-trade wine prices increased by 0.8% year-on-year in July.

Off-trade wine prices increased by 0.7% in July from June, off-trade beer prices increased by 0.5% in July from June and off-trade spirits prices increased by 0.1% last month from the previous month.

Alcoholic Beverages, Tobacco, Transport And Prices On Average

Additionally, prices in the alcoholic beverages and tobacco category increased by 1.3% year-on-year in July, while prices in the transport category increased by 2.6%, prices on average, as measured by the EU Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices, increased by 2.2% year-on-year in July, according to the CSO Consumer Price Index.

Spending In Hospitality Venues

The above news follows last week's news that spending in Irish hospitality venues increased in July.
