Wellington in New Zealand, from its position as ‘Middle-Earth’, served as the setting for a recent discussion on the importance of screen tourism.
Moderated by Irish-born Cathy O’Sullivan, the panel included Tourism Ireland CEO Niall Gibbons and Tourism New Zealand CEO Stephen England-Hall. The audience was made up of influential members of the New Zealand film and tourism sectors, as well as government representatives. The event also featured a showcase of some of the best on-screen partnerships – including Tourism Ireland’s work with Lucasfilm and Star Wars and with HBO and Game of Thrones.
