Healthy Fast Food Chain Leon To Open Flagship Restaurant In Dundrum

Following the news in the summer that UK healthy fast food chain Leon would be expanding into the Irish market, it's now been announced that the chain has partnered with Hammerson, on behalf of the Dundrum Partnership, to open a flagship restaurant in Dublin's Dundrum Town Centre.

Leon was founded in 2004 by John Vincent, Henry Dimbleby and chef Allegra McEvedy for the purpose of providing affordable, healthy fast food that is kind to the planet, and currently has 61 restaurants across the globe, with 52 in the UK and plans to roll out 20 outlets across Ireland by 2023.

Wider Development

The Dundrum branch will occupy 1,886 square feet in the Upper Pembroke District of the shopping centre and will form part of a wider development that will reposition existing retail units to create four new restaurants and additional leisure space. The first restaurants within the Dundrum redevelopment are set to open in the last quarter of 2019.

"A Quality Brand"

Simon Betty, director of retail for Ireland at Hammerson, said, "Leon is a quality brand and a great addition to the centre’s culinary mix. It sets the tone for the outstanding dining and leisure environment the Pembroke District will provide for customers."

"An Iconic Location"

Meanwhile, Stuart Fitzgerald of Leon Ireland commented, "Dundrum Town Centre is a phenomenal retail and leisure destination, and we are incredibly excited about opening one of our first Leons there in late 2019. We chose Dundrum because it is an iconic location that consistently delivers an exceptional experience to shoppers and visitors. We can't wait to play our part by bringing naturally fast food to visitors very soon."
