Bookings For Spanish Hotels Declined By 64% Year-On-Year In August

The number of nights booked in Spanish hotels decreased b64% year-on-year in August, according to newly-released data from the National Statistics Institute.

Spanish hotel bookings by British tourists plummeted over 91% last month, while bookings from Germany declined by 80%, the data showed.

Additionally, the Balearic islands lost 86% of their foreign tourists last month compared to a year earlier.

First Eight Months

Hotel bookings declined 70% year-on-year during the first eight months of 2020.

Economy And Jobs

The tourism sector accounts for approximately 12% of the Spanish economy, providing more than one in eight jobs.
