Co. Antrim's Salthouse Hotel Planning To Develop New Restaurant
The Salthouse Hotel of Ballycastle, Co. Antrim, is planning to develop a new restaurant.
According to The Belfast Telegraph, the hotel's proposal for the planned restaurant states that the venue wants to "change the use of the existing hotel manager's dwelling on the ground floor to provide a new overspill restaurant".
Salthouse Hotel Representative Statement
The Belfast Telegraph quotes Carl McGarrity of The Salthouse Hotel as saying, "We already have a significant hospitality offering for guests. However, in order to cater for the demand that exists, we plan to create an additional restaurant on The Salthouse site.
"We envisage that the new restaurant will be able to accommodate around 120 diners and the development will create and sustain a further 30 jobs.
"In keeping with the rest of The Salthouse complex, the restaurant will provide a relaxing environment where diners can discover and appreciate the magic of the north coast.
"We have a fantastic team at The Salthouse who are committed to realising the vision of creating a destination that reflects and protects the beauty of the natural environment that it sits within."
According to The Belfast Telegraph, the hotel's proposal also refers to plans for the "retention of staff accommodation on the first floor", the "retention of the existing basement housing plant room and water tank", a "proposed extension to the building to provide [an] ancillary hotel prep kitchen, cool and freezer rooms and a washroom on the basement level", and a "restaurant, snug, toilets, stores, kitchen and indoor and outdoor dining areas on the ground-floor level and associated parking".
Planning Permission Application
According to The Belfast Telegraph, an application for planning permission from The Salthouse Hotel will reportedly come before Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council's planning committee in the new few months.
Outdoor Space Investment
According to The Irish News, The Salthouse Hotel has also invested £150,000 to help expand its outdoor offering in a venture that will support 30 jobs.
According to The Irish News, the venue has developed two self-contained pagodas and a self-contained outdoor kitchen, and has also invested in air cleaning technology.
Salthouse Hotel Opening And Spa
The Salthouse Hotel opened for business in the summer of 2019.
The eco-friendly venue subsequently opened a £400,000 spa facility in the autumn of 2019.
