Planning Permission Approved For Construction Of 40-Bedroom Hotel In Newry
Planning permission has been approved for the construction a 40 bedroom hotel in Newry.
According to newry.ie, the decision was made during a planning committee meeting of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, during which the item was proposed by Newry City Councillor Gary Stokes and seconded by Crotlieve Councillor Jarlath Tinnelly, and the presentation explained how the proposed hotel will "contribute to the viability and vitality of the city centre".
The planning permission application for the proposed hotel reportedly was submitted by Mamboscope Developments Ltd, Belfast and Agents GMR Architects, Belfast.
The site on which the proposed hotel will be constructed is located at 90 Hill Street/10 The Mall, which is currently occupied by Toners of Newry.
Both buildings are listed, and their existing form and fabric will be retained.
The development of the hotel reportedly will involve the demolition of an existing single storey infill and the creation of a four-storey infill extension, as well as the reinstatement of existing window openings on the historic rear elevation.
The plans for the proposed hotel also a restaurant/bar, a coffee shop and a gym.
