Real estate investment firm Tetrarch Capital is planning to start constructing a 165-bed hotel in Cork city next year.

As reported by The Irish Examiner, Tetrarch has said that it will begin work on the hotel, which will be located on a site at Cork's Parnell Place, Deane Street and Oliver Plunkett Street Lower, in 2022.

Tetrarch reportedly acquired the site in 2017.

The development of the planned 165-bed hotel will reportedly include the adaptation of listed 19th-century warehouse buildings.

A Tetrarch spokesperson reportedly told The Irish Examiner that the company remains "very committed to the project, with plans to commence the development next year."

Planning Approval For Extension Of Co. Waterford's Cliff House Hotel Appealed

The above news coincides with news that the decision to approve a plan to extend Cliff House Hotel of Ardmore, Co. Waterford, has been appealed.

As reported by The Irish Examiner, Waterford City & County Council had approved planning permission for a two-storey extension of the hotel, which would include five new bedrooms and involve the demolition of the existing wrap-around deck on the north east of the hotel.

However, the decision to approve the planned extension has reportedly now been appealed by a third party due to concerns about the area's "visually vulnerable" coastline, which is protected under the current development plan.

An Bord Pleanála will reportedly review the plan and issue a decision about it by the start of December.

The Fountain Guesthouse Of Co. Waterford Hits The Market

In other Irish accommodation venue news, The Fountain Guesthouse of Youghal Road, Dungarvan, Co. Waterford, has hit the market via DNG Morrissey Properties.

The c.558 m², 15 bed detached property's listing on morrisseyproperties.ie states, "DNG Morrissey Properties are delighted to launch this well-known landmark property to the open market. Formerly 'The Fountain Guesthouse', the Flynn Family traded here for many decades. The guesthouse accommodates 15 bedrooms, large dining rooms and lounge rooms, and the benefit of an attached three bedroom dwelling house with independent access from the front. The car park to the front parks twenty cars, all surrounded by mature landscaped gardens to the front and rear of the property.

"The location on the Youghal Road is just off the main N25 Waterford/Cork roadway, and fifteen minutes' walk from the centre of Dungarvan town, ideal for guests accessing all town facilities. This property presents huge potential to develop further as a guesthouse with Dungarvan now experiencing large volumes of visitors to the town each year. The property could also be considered as a home to transform into an exclusive single dwelling house with many substantial detached houses already constructed in this popular residential area.

"Viewing strictly by appointment."
