Irish Bar in NYC Ranked Best in the World

The Dead Rabbit, located in New York, has been named the best bar in the world at the 8th annual Spirited Awards, held as part of the Tales of the Cocktail event in the US.

Sean Muldoon and Jack McGarry, the Belfast natives behind The Dead Rabbit told DailyEdge.ie that they wanted to take "the best of every single pub in Ireland" and present it to New Yorkers.

Named after an Irish-American street gang from the 1850s, the bar is deeply rooted with the history of the Irish in New York.

What sets The Dead Rabbit apart is its authentic Irish-American cocktail menu and its Irish food menu complete with all day fry-ups and Sunday roasts.

Veering away from stereotypes, McGarry said to DailyEdge.ie that the whole point of the bar is to “challenge the status quo” of its competitors found in touristy areas like Times Square.

No stranger to success, McGarry previously won International Bartender of the Year back in 2013 while the bar itself took home World’s Best Cocktail Menu 2013 and Best American Cocktail Bar 2014.
