John Malone and Guinness Family Weigh Up Bids For Carton House Hotel

It's being reported that media and hotel billionaire John Malone is considering bidding for the four-star Carton House hotel and golf resort in Maynooth, Co. Kildare.

Other parties interested in the property include a hospitality operation backed by Guinness heir Lord Edward Iveagh's family, according to the Sunday Business Post.

The report also states that several Chinese investors have also sought access to financial information on Carton House resort.

Following months of speculation about its future, it was confirmed last month that Carton House resort had gone on the market with a guide price of €60 million.

John Malone's Irish hotel partnership with John Lally’s Lalco includes a hotel portfolio featuring the Westin and Intercontinental in Dublin and Glenlo Abbey in Co Galway, while last autumn three Dublin hotels - the Spencer Hotel in the IFSC, the Beacon Hotel in Sandyford and the Morgan Hotel in Temple Bar - were acquired by the partnership in a multi-million euro deal.
